Short Pursuit Leads to OWI Arrest 5-14-17

On May 14, 2017 at around 6:48pm a deputy observed a motorcycle turn south onto N14 (310th Ave) from Highway 9 and accelerated at a high rate of speed.  The motorcycle was estimated at going 33 mph over the speed limit.  The deputy attempted to initiate a traffic stop by activating the emergency lights and siren.  The driver on the motorcycle was identified as James Fales Jr (36) of Laurens.  Upon further investigation, it was determined that Fales Jr was under the influence of alcohol.

Fales Jr was placed under arrest and charged with: Eluding, OWI 1st Offense, Reckless Driving, and Excessive Speed.  The DCSO was assisted by the Iowa State Patrol, and Bob's Repair and Tow of Spirit Lake.

All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
