On August 17, 2018 at around 9:23am, a deputy stopped a Chevrolet Sonic at Vick’s Corner for excessive speed.  Once the vehicle was stopped, the deputy observed some suspicious movements in the vehicle.  When the deputy approached the vehicle, the deputy could smell the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle.

Upon further investigation, it was determined that there was marijuana in the vehicle.  The driver was cited into juvenile courts and released to their parents.  Two other passengers were placed under arrest for possession of a controlled substance.  Christian Derby (21), and Keenan Sorgdrager (20), of Sioux Falls, were both brought to jail.

The DCSO was assisted by the Iowa State Patrol.

All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
