Man rescued from Silver Lake after falling through the ice

At approximately 8:24 A.M. on November 29, 2018, the Dickinson County Communications Center received a 911 call reporting a person had just fallen through the ice on Silver Lake at Lake Park.

Upon arrival, three members of the Lake Park Fire Department, trained in ice water rescue, made their way out onto the ice and were successful in pulling the victim, 78-year old Dennis Gildemeister from Lake Park, out of the water. The Arnolds Park/Okoboji Fire Department responded with their airboat and transported Mr. Gildemeister off the ice to a nearby boat ramp where he was then taken by ambulance to Lakes Regional Healthcare. No further information on his condition is available. Mr. Gildemeister was in the water for approximately 22 minutes before he was rescued.
