On December 18, 2023 at around 8:04pm, the DCSO received a call in reference to a reckless driver going southbound on N14 at a high rate of speed. A deputy located a vehicle going westbound in the 2500 block of A34 going over 100 mph. When the deputy attempted to pull the vehicle over, it continued on at a high rate of speed. A pursuit of the vehicle ensued and went into Clay County.
The pursuit ended east of Spencer near the intersection of 230th Avenue and Highway 18. Ashford Williamson VI was driving a 2014 Chevrolet Camaro. He was subsequently placed under arrest and transported to the Dickinson County Jail. Williamson was charged with eluding, excessive speed, fail to obey stop sign, and operating without headlights when required.
The DCSO was assisted by the Milford Police Department, Clay County Sheriff’s Office, Spencer Police Department, Iowa State Patrol, and Boji Tow.
All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
